To kick off our 2017 season.  A celebration of all things Victorian with a very special costume and accessories exhibition.

Victorian gems from our collection of historical dresses, menswear, mourning wear and wedding atire displayed in tableau settings.

Tea and Cakes
Wash down your visit to this evocative museum with celebratory tea and home baked cakes at reasonable prices.

Enjoy a family day at the Old House with exciting FREE Easter activities for children and weather permitting, outdoor courtyard games

​Heelwork to Music
 A masterclass in the art of canine training
Karen Sykes and Kath Hardman are at the peak of their professional careers in the world of canine training.  Both are Crufts winners with Kath being World Champion in HTM Freestyle and Karen being European Champion in HTM.
They have taught their skills extensively worlwide, including Australia, Japan, Russia and Israel.  this talented duo are both international judges.  Their passion and enthusiasm shine through.

Our audience can expect a masterclass in dog handling techniques with a chance to have-a-go followed by a demo.

This is an event not to be missed.  There will be two performance sessions at 12 noon and 2pm.  It is advisable to book tickets for this FREE event.
Donations for the team who are heading to the European Championships this summer would be most welcomed on the day.

"The Memory House - Live"

An evening of evocative, contemporary art, photography and  music.
As part of the international Museums at Night festival.  
A one night exploration of the Old House Museums season long exhibition of
"The Memory House".  The Memory House  Live is an evening of art, photography, film and evocative music inspired by local and family histories.

Curated by international artist Keith How.

Victorian Tea Party
Be the Lord and Lady of the house for the day.  Spoilt rotten by our costumed servants who will serve you a delightful tray of tea and Victoria sponges in our sunny courtyard or cosy parlour if the weather is inclement.​

A wonderful summers evening of entertainment from Acappella group "The Heartless Tarts" and a guest community choir.

An evening of storytelling and poetry
JCostumed performers tell dark, bone chilling tales in the atmospheric Old House Parlour.  Tales of horror to shock and delight.

Victorian Christmas

The Old House Dressed for Christmas
An assault on the senses.  Wonderful, nose tickling aromas of cinamon, cloves and pine.  The tree dressed in Victorian style.  Share a glass of mulled wine and listen to the choir.

Why not visit Bakewell Church for the tree festival too.
