Celebrating in style
The Old House staff and volunteers are feeling in the party mood.  We are celebrating being open for 60 years, as a museum.  There are stunning costumes, hats and bags dating from the 1920s & 30s with some items being recent donations. Displayed here for the very first time.

Also our volunteers favourites.
Costumes, textile and accessories hidden away in our store rooms will be displayed for a few weeks at a time.

The natural worlds influence on fashion
A fascinating display of costumes and accessories.   Designs which have been influenced by flora and fauna, animals and insects and the natural world at large.
Created and curated by a museum volunteer.

Use your creativity to design a  rocket or robot using popular building bricks and accessories.

Celebrate with us
Entry to the museum and its exhibits is entirely FREE today as we celebrate our 60th anniversay as a museum.

Lots to see with displays and photographs showing the museums progress over the years.
Volunteers from Bakewell Historical Society will be on hand to discuss the  16thc house and exhibits.

With childrens activity from 11am - 1pm.  Come and try your hand embossing onto metal using traditional tools.  You will make your own personalised keyring fob to put on your school or sports bag to take away with you. 
This is a safe project for children aged 6 and upwards.
Cost £1.50

Plant, cake and bric a brac stalls, light refreshments and a very special performance from Belper's Community Choir - The Rough Truffles at 2.30pm.  So much  to see and enjoy.

Come and enjoy an evening with ​ Hector Gilchrist.  

As a fine and sensitive interpreter of the Songs of Burns, he brings to each performance of these and other songs and ballads, a depth of feeling to the storyline and melody, which engages the listener and is supported with an uncomplicated guitar technique.

Teams of 6 welcome.  if you are two then come along and join our volunteers.

Licensed bar with local beers, wine and soft drinks.  Light refreshments to be included in the ticket price of £8.50.
